I would usually take one of the Imitrex injections as soon as my first attack after falling asleep came on. Even though the maximum dosage is 2 in 24 hours, I was always afraid that the medicine would lose its effectiveness if I overused it. I don't know of any reports of this happening, but I wasn't inclined to take any chances. I've heard of some people taking "half" on an injection, but in light of how the medication is curently packaged (in a springloaded, "automatic" system that administers the injection with the push of a button), I don't know how this would be done. Good luck in finding a schedule that works for you!
