We cluster sufferers really appreciate the support
given to us by our spouses, so thanks for your
concern.
As far as counseling--I've never found the onset
of a cluster attack related to any emotional stuff
going on in my life. The episode simply comes at
the exact same time every 2 years, whether I have
stress or not, come rain or come shine.
My best advice for you and your husband is to read
the posts in this group to get ideas for medication.
So far, my arsenal includes Prednisone (5 tablets
of 20 mg each for 2 days, then 4 for 2 days, etc., down
to 1, then the whole thing over once again);
oxygen at 7 liters for 15 minutes if I get a
headache; a thermos of hot black coffee at the
ready (the caffeine can abort many an attack);
2 extra strength Excedrin (must be taken at first
sign of tingling); an ice pack; soon, some Imitrex
nasal spray...did I leave anything out? With luck,
the Prednisone will prevent most headaches from
ever occurring.
Best of luck, and your husband is fortunate to have
such a supportive wife!
