Hi again Dame. Elavil (Amyitryptyline ) is non habit forming and form what I know from reading literature, It has not benn abused. Unlike narcotics, elavil is not a CNS depressant. It Is a tricyclic antidepressant a different. I take 100mgs of elavil. I get groggy and find it hard to get out of bed during the work day. It has to build up in your blood system over a 4 week period. The most important thing is not to abruptly stop elavil. Since it raises levels of seretonin and possibly norepinephrine, elavil does need to be tapered off over a period of time if used for a couple of years; that is my experience and the route my Neuro suggests.
Welcome again DC
