I can empathize Christina. My own personal experience with Diamond Headache clinic wasn't negative but I guess I would say was "uneventful". For years I was seeing a neurologist who was pretty good but I thought I'd try the famous clinic and maybe find out the "secret receipe" to treating clusters...hehehe. People at Diamond were nice and all,but I got the same course of treatment I had for years, plus at a little higher cost for being in downtown Chicago. So I went back to my old set of docs.
Sansert and Prednisone have worked well for me for prevention, but Sansert always bothered me in that it is tough on the kidneys and I just can't "think right" when I'm on it. Of course, that's tons better shape than getting an attack of clusters. I'm trying Imitrex this round.....supposed to work quite well with some people but you don't have to keep taking it as a preventative everyday like the Sansert. I still am on the Prednisone, have my oxygen tanks charged and ready. If that fails,I go to the codeine and if it's real bad, time for emergency for the demerol shot.
Hang in there! :)
