I've been a pilot for 15 years and had chronic CH's for 8. I fly a fair bit and have never triggered CH as a result of altitude changes either up or down and I've done both directions at very aggressive speeds.
Current thinking ties CH's to the hypothalamus(body clock) which makes sense since most of us can set our watches to their occurance.
