Jim,
I live in Denver,(mile high as you know)but grew up in Minnesota for 20 years(flat as flat can be). On the question of altitude. Personally, it doesn't make a difference if I'm at sea level or climbing a 14 thousand foot peak,(which I sometimes do). I doubt if the oxygen thing is the culprit if some people have a reaction at higher altitudes. More than likely it's the change in pressure. After you've been living at altitude for a while, your body actually adjusts itself to compensate for the loss of oxygen. Your blood makeup changes to carry more oxygen. But as we all know, these things are different in everyone and you can't discount anything. It's interesting to me how freakin smart these clusters are in how they adapt to us trying to beat them with different meds and what not. Our hypothalamus is a very primordial part of our brain and over the eons has become very efficient at regulating itself. One day(hopefully soon) research scientists tell us that we will be able to turn certain parts of it off and on depending on our sleeping patters, schedules, maladies and what not. Science is what is going to save us. I'm rambling. Good luck. We're all here to help.
