my experience is that if I start on the o2 at the VERY FIRST sign of an attack starting, it will nearly always turn it off completely within 10-12 minutes, I then stay on the o2 for at least 5 minutes after the last twinge, and don't get immediate "comeback" attacks
if I wait until the attack is painful, the effect is questionable, or not at all
if I stop too early, the attack comes right back
be sure you are inhaling only the pure 02, you should have been furnished a bag-type, valved NONrebreather mask -
the 02 from the tank fills a bag
when you inhale the flap valves let the 02 into your mask, but seal the outside air out
when you exhale, a little flap valve in the mask keeps you from breathing back into the o2 bag (it is refilling while you are bewteen breaths), and the flaps on the mask shell open to let the exhalation blow out into the room
breathe slow & easy - there is more than enough 02 for you to hold each breath quite a while
be sure you exhale fully before the next breath
good luck
