Yes, I read that article Amanda. As a long time user of Cafagot PB supp., I called my pharamist and read it to him. His reply to taking the antivert (mecaz...) was BS! This really ticks me off - when something works (and it's about the only thing that really did work on me) the FDA decides that I don't need it! I've also written the FDA and my Congressman.
The doc gave me a scrip for Wigraine, but have to take Dramamine with it or get really sick at my stomach. Still have some of the Cafagot PB, so I'm really careful with it.
While I DO know that phenobarb is habit forming - when you're in the type of pain we're in WHO CARES! My doc agreed with me, but the FDA - that's a whole 'nother story. Yes, I've abused it (who hasn't that's chronic), but have NEVER had a problem getting off it when the HA lifted for a while. I just wish the Federal Gov. would realize that when you're in Chronic Pain - YOU DON"T take meds for recreational use.
So much for my soapbox on the FDA!
