Drummer, dear Drummer, I never meant to get you
so angry or cause you so much grief. If I thought
you were an idiot for having your opinion, and chose
to dis you for having a different one than mine, I'd
be the first to label myself an idiot.
Again, I agree: the message board posts ought
to focus on CH because that is what this is about.
But how can you deny sny sufferer any shred of
info that might alleviate their pain?
Maybe I shouldn't tell you this, but I am currently
between CH bouts. That doesn't mean I stop getting
regular migraines. Do you think it means I should
stay off this board until I get another CH cycle
again?
Just recently there was a post about free/subsidized
Imitrex for low income people. I gave this info
to a migraine sufferer I know. Now, perhaps she
could have gotten that info on one of the many
migraine websites. Perhaps she might not have seen
that info for two months. But was I wrong not to deny her
what could be a sanity-saving resource, just because
it came from a Cluster site?
Drummer if a thousand people read a book, the ink
doesnt wear off the pages by the pressure of their
eyes. And neither will this website suffer from
people searching it for answers to their pain. If
we are all of a sudden inundated by zillions of
migrainers wanting to take over, I have no doubt
that they will be directed elsewhere, just as people
have been doing all along.
Drummer I have been very distressed to have caused
such an angry reaction in you. I am very upset to
have become suddenly a focus of anger and discord.
It was never my intention.
But my opinion remains the same. Begrudging ANYONE a
source of information seems to me a little like the
days when "Whites Only" signs hung over the drinking
fountains, because, after all, "those people" had
fountains of their own.
One other point... a quote from your post:
I believe it is extremely important to
discriminate based on symptoms. Doctors do this every day. Let me explain. I went to my doctor
and told him that I suffered from one sided pain to my eye, nose and jaw. I told him that my affected
eye and nose got teary and runny during the pain. He said that I may have Cluster Headaches. I
asked my doctor if the patient before me had Clusters. He said no. He said that the patient before me
had pain behind both eyes and was able to sleep during the pain. He said that patient had what was
called Migraines. Obviously he was able to discriminate between me and the other patient based on
our symptons. Again, I disagree with Annie on this point.
Drummer, that is differentiation, not discrimination.
Discrimination would be if your doctor healed the
migrainer and cast you out of his office for just
wanting drugs. Or told you that you couldn't possibly
have those symptoms because women dont get clusters.
Or that it was "all in your head."
Extending a hand for a shake of friendship and
agreeing to disagree, and a hug for sharing the
desperation of the demon, I remain, ever open to civil
discourse,
