You might try Bellergal-S (it's generic equivalent actually). I don't see it mentioned
here much, but it is MY personal lifesaver. I go through about three tablets a day, a
half tablet at a time (they're scored to be broken). It's fairly cheap so maybe the HMO
will like it. No telling if it will work for you, but that seems to be the case with
almost any medicine in the cluster headache arsenal.
In absence of the Bellergal treatment I too will, once a week or so, get hit with a mega-
headache that lasts 8 to 10 hours. They actually seem like successive headaches -- one
gets that "well I'm about done and going to leave" feeling, but another sharper attack
comes right on its heels. They kind of drain me.
