Sounds like cluster headaches. Usually, the best thing to do is find a doctor or more specifically, a neurologist that is familiar with the treatment of clusters. Some of the drugs are expensive, but ask if they have a patient assistance drug program. I ask for samples ocassionally. Rehabilitation services are another source of obtaining free meds. The amount of help you receive depends on your gross income, but some of the rules cand be bent.
I take verapamil SR and it cost me about $25 for a month's supply. Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker used for high blood pressure. But itwork for many, including myself
Getting a perscription for medical oxygen can abort a CH at the first signs of a cluster. I had to fight to get a script for oxygen. Most docs have heard of cluster Headaches, but many don't know they are different from Migrains and require different meds. I reccommend presenting your doctor with info on cluster treatments to "educate" him. If he is a good, humble physician. My doc decided to skip a CT or PET scan
