Hi DJ
I have some current information from GlaxoWellcome on the use of Imitrex injections. I was under the impression (don't know why though) that when it says "Imitrex injection is INDICATED for the acute treatment of cluster headache episodes" that it meant that the FDA had approved it's use for that purpose.
I understood that to get a drug an "indicated" status with the FDA was a pretty expensive proposition.
I used the material I got from Glaxo to petition my insurance carrier to loosen up and allow me more per month. My doctor is helping me too. At this point, the ins. folks have allowed 16 shots in the next 30 days and asked me to have a consultation appointment with a neuro to see if he agrees that the extended use of Imitrex injections is ok.
We'll see what happens. My current episode is at an end but I'm keeping up the full court press to see what I can come up with for next time.
More later.
