I'm a cafergot user too. Hadn't heard of it being taken off the market. I've got a bottle of about 150 tablets in the medicine cabinet and I'll cherish them even more now if they are tkaing them off. No, Sansert and Cafergot are two diferent animals. The fibrous growths on kidneys, etc. are a side effect of Sansert. You can only take it for 6 months max and then you have to come off it for a few weeks. The only side effects I get from cafergot are cold fingers and toes from the reduced circulation. My prescription says take 2 at onset of headache and 1 every 1/2 hour till the HA is gone. Not more than 6/HA or 10/week. I usually stop a HA with 1 or 2 tabs but I wind up taking 30-40/week (4 times the limit). I've had the Dr. jump my case about taking too much, says I'l get gangreen and my didgits will rot off. So what! Better to loose a few toes than suffer the headaches. I think one of my most panicked times was when the pharmacist refused to refill my prescription because I "was taking too much". I seriously though of getting a gun and robbing him of his cafergot supply. Managed to get the doc to call him and get him to give me enough to get through the weekend. Had to see my doc the following Monday and he approved more. It's been my lifesaver, literally.
Luv you guys,
