Sorry to gets your hopes up on this posting. If any of our family has ANY possible information on obtaining supplemental medication assistance, free meds, Drug company assisted programs for Indigent Patient, please email me at dchal@negia.net or post a follow up on the Message Board.
But here is a bit of promising good news. I may have posted this in the past but cannot remember. So her it is again and I will try to keep it simple
Due to financial hardship and the high cost of medication, I began to seek out possible souces of assistance. I found some here in Georgia. my first source was through Vocational Rehabilitation Services of Athens. There may be the same in your area but might be through some other dept-possibly Area Mental Health centers( I know nothing about how it may be organized in your area ). I had to search through the phonebook and ran into some dead ends, but I called Voc Rehab was transferred to Rehab Services of Athens. I was given a tele number of a contact person. I was sent forms in the mail, filled out some paper work, was given a list of Drug Companies that participate in giving free meds. Many of the meds WE use ARE available. It was easy for me, but can't say that it will be for everyone Perseverence is the key.
Also, Many docs have their OWN program, but you have to ASK. Also, docs have sample kits and many reserve them for those financially unstable like some of our members. Here to you have to ask and explain your situation i.e. no insurance disabled can't afford the med, etc.
One catch here; most have to fall within the financially poverty level, about $6700 for a single person. Say $1050 for those with dependants. I am currently obtaining Effexor Xr through my neurologist's Assistance Program.
I thank you for your time to read this and if you have any information contact me
One more word; be humble, swallow your pride if you have a huge dose like I do.
Hope this helps some of yoiu all. All responces accepted
Sincerely, David Chalfant
