Hi Michelle, I have had thistest three times. It is a dye inserted into the vein in your arm. What they usually do is complete some of the MRI slide you out of the machine and give you the dye. It is no worse than any other IV, might sting a bit briefly anf you may have a brief warm sensation in you arm for a moment. It is made of an organic substance so side effects are rare, and I was able to drive home alone after all tests. The dye tests for blockages in blood vessels in the brain. It is a good "rule out test" The anxiety is worse than the procedure. Good luck....Anne
