I used to be a DJ -- breakfast on UK local radio. Often got them midway through the show. My newsman thought he was working with a really sad person who'd crumple at the merest "headache".
Can't tell you how difficult it was being all bright and cheerful when the microphone was on -- especially with one eye closed and leaking buckets of tears, and snot dribbling out one nostril!
While the records played I'd sit and try to meditate it away, feeling so miserable. Then the song would finish and it would be time to crank up the cheerfulness again.
It was hell.
Now I'm self-employed and work from home as a commercial voice-over man, so at least I don't have to keep explaining what's happening to others all the time.
This probably isn't much use to you, but at least it shows you're not a lone CH'er in the entertainment business!
