Scared people? Have I ever! Fortunately my boss is extremely understanding - being myself - but I will never forget my first time in the emergency ward accompanied by the beast. Talking to the doc when it hit again, couldn't sit still, couldn't talk, walked out into the waiting room, lights glaring, hands pressed over eyes, screaming, falling over patients waiting their turn. 2 minutes later the room was empty, even people on cruches fled like from - you guessed it - a demon. Scared the shit out of the doc too, he didn't know what to do, just told me to go home and call a psychiatrist. A nurse saved me that time, she forced the doc to call Oslo University Hospital, the pulled me in at once. Had another big one when I arrived and scared them too. The neuro knew nothing about CH, but plenty about pain. She pumped me full of morphine and sleeping pills, which knocked me out for 16 hours. That broke the 'cycle' - a week later the CH was gone.
Bad, yes - but it must have been a hell of a lot worse to get hit onstage. Hope that will be the one and only time for you. Yeah, I know - but what else do we have than hope?
All the best to you,
Erik
