Take heart from all of us fellow sufferers. We understand what the guy goes through. You're hoping someone can just make you unconscious while it's going on.
Since he is a recent diagnosis, if even decided without further testing, the verapamil may or may not continue to be effective. This appears to be happening to me. (see my note) He may continue to search and find different medications and some times if this goes on year after year, the same things don't work. It's a trial and error thing with this stuff. He should not continue to suffer though and I suggest a neurologist rather than a standard doctor. Family practitioners just don't see this very often and having the maddening experience of telling doctors what you want can be all too common. Take heart though, there are many types of medications, sometimes taken one behind the other during a cluster to get you through the episodes. Hope this helps.
