Went to the doc on Thursday. He said Kepakote is what everyone is raving about now. He said it has a better preventative success rating now that verapamil. My son had a back operation and got vicodin (hydrocodon) tablets to interrupt the pain signal from getting to the brain. I was having some real bad CH in a string, so I took the vocodin to see what happened. I took two 5/500mg tablets and it worked for me in about 30 minutes. You have to take the pills as soon as you first feel them coming on. I used them for about a week, about every day, and they became less and less effective. I started taking three, and they worked again, but made me pretty sleepy. Then in another week, three wasn't doing anything. I gave up and went back to imitrex. I haven't taken ergotamine for a long, long time. It never worked too well for me, but it could be much improved by now. Good luck with your meds.
