Currently I have been taken 150m. of amitripline at bedtime. Inially the drug was for cronic low back pain. I have not had a headache in 8 years. Knock on wood. I started getting them when I turned 18. None of the doctors I saw could tell me what tthey were. I did my own reasearch. Bingo..I tried the shots twice. I have never in my life experienced such pain..Absoulety indescrible. I am 57 now. I would get them early in the year. If I could make it past spring I was safe. The worst attack was when they would only stop for 15. mins. They then leveled off and I would get them during the nite , same exact time. Would level off six weeks later. I started taking Inderal 80mg. daily and this helped. But you have to wean yourself off of this drug so you don't have heart damage. I hope this helps.
