Just to add to the mystery:
I've been afflicted with Cluster Headache from the time I was about 20. I'm 54 now. About 7 years ago, I had a cataract develop in my right eye, same side as my headaches. It had to be removed and an atrificial lens installed. Then, about 2 years ago, (while in remission from my clusters) the retina in the same eye detached, vessels tore and my eye filled with blood and totally obscured my vision. I got to the opthomologist within an hour and over the next couple of weeks had three laser treatments, one cryosurgery (involves putting a frozen probe behind the eye and pushing in on the back of the eye to attempt to cause some scar tissue to reattach the retina), and two vitrectomys (operations inside the eye).
I felt that if anything was going to end my remission, that would be it. However, it was not until 2 years after this that the headaches came back (three weeks ago).
I've always wondered if the clusters in any way contributed to the to my eye.
Who knows...
