I feel very bad for you. I remember when I was taking ergots and the doctors told me my digits would fall off if I didn't stop taking so much. I have never been hospitalized for DHE treatment but in 1990 when I lived in New England, I had to be admitted twice as an inpatient because the Clusters were so out of control. They were constant and I was in the first time for fifteen days straight, getting Demerol every four hours. Got out of the hospital and within two days, my doc readmitted me for another thirteen days because I was in such pain. This is the type of things that has happened to me in the past with Clusters. Mine are definitely a 10+ on the pain scale and I have not found any of the prophylactic stuff that has ever made them any better. Because of some other medical stuff going on with me, I can't take Imitrex or any other vasoconstrictor. It would kill me. So, I wish you luck and hope that they get these under control for you.
