My Doctor, who sad to say died earlier this year, diagnosed Horton's Syndrome in thirty seconds, and prescribed Sibelium, apparently a calcium channel blocker, for three months, which seemed to do the trick.I mentioned this to my new doctor, who had never heard of it. So I decided to check out any info on the web and arrived here. Having read through this site, as I had no idea what Horton's Syndrome was when I got the first attack three years ago, and assumed that it was a one-off affair, I must say that I am relieved that it's not fatal, as you can imagine I thought my time was up when the first attack got me, brain tumour or similar was going through my mind, but I am less than pleased with the idea that not only does the bloody thing come back, this is now attack three, but my experience, i.e. that what worked last time does not work this time is far from unique. As far as I can discern from the various articles and letters, not only do doctors not know what causes it, the consequence is that they do not know how to treat it, and it appears to be a technique of trial and error for each attack. The prospect of having these attacks at regular intervals for years to come does not fill my heart with glee, to say the least. Still, I printed out a lot of stuff to show the wife, who at least now realizes that I am not about to turn up my toes, and that I am not either swinging the lead when I head for the bedroom and put my head under a pillow for two days at a time.
