I've had to deal with these things on an annual basis for about 20 years. Was happy to find this site. I am hoping that a specific cause can be discovered. I am currently under the opinion that melatonin, the hypothalmus and the sympathetic nervous system are involved.
I have used oxygen with on/off success. Was able to skip a year and have a year of mild headache when I used desipramine 100mg daily as prophylaxis. Ordinarily use ergotamine 2mg sublingual tablets for acute treatment. Also am currently using verapamil 160mg prompt release three times daily with Sansert 2mg three times daily. Have had three horrible headaches in the past three weeks. Went to ER twice.
I half-heartedly tried the "water treatment". It is hard for me to remember to drink that much water on a regular basis.
After reading previous messages on this board I tried the cold shower with aspirin and aborted an attack last night.
Well it is wonderful to have an outlet for trials and a well spring of information at hand. Thank you for this site.
