Laura, I'm 39, an executive in the technology industry, with 3 teenagers - 16, 14, and soon to be 12. I've been a suffererfor 12 yrs; shortly after my youngest was born. The only thing I can tell you is that my children are the joy of my life; caring for them is one of life's greatest pleasures/and biggest challenges. I now struggle with trying to guide these guys through the tumultuous teen years; with a zillion activities that they are all involved in. It's difficult; but an understanding spouse is a gift from GOD. The hardest thing to manage now is the rigors of their social/sports lives. For example, both boys play on very competitive ice hockey teams who travel throughout the new england area every weekend. Often one child has to be in maine on fri night; while the other has to be in massachusetts. it scares me to death, on these long road trips; waiting for the beast to emerge just as you're barreling down the interstate to a rink 200 miles away. I guess you just learn to adapt, but boy it's tough trying to explain why they're going to be late because you can't drive. While I know that they understand, or try to, it is still hard. My oldest will have his license in 3 weeks - hooray !!!!!! Of course, this could be a blessing and a curse.
Have children Laura, if that's what you want. Despite the challenges, I can't begin to describe the rewards of being a parent. And, as a family, you'll learn to manage with CH. I have.
