Just stumbled onto this site and thought that I would share a few words of sympathy and compassion for those who suffer. I have been getting these eye aches for 30 years now and have not found a trigger over the course of these 30years. I have found that "cafergot" does the best help for me and have recently found that my nasal passages have been either really clogged or just plain really dry. The doctor has now prescribed "nasacort" a nasal spray that has opened the passages and allowed me to breathe again.
My attacks are generally at night but have been known to have them in the daytime. When I feel the onslaught of an attack coming on I quickly take a cafergot. If I don't take one in time I suffer immensely and nothing works to stop the pain. Occasionally I have to head to the hospital for a shot of demerol. Demerol is not a cure but it deadens the pain to allow me to get some sleep. Recently I have been able to get to sleep by taking a cafergot and 2shots of spray from nasacort. This has allowed me to be able to sleep through the night.
I may get these attacks from 4-6 weeks
I may get 2-3 during the evenings
Last sessions was 2.5 years ago(just when you think that they have gone for good then bang they are back again)
