Imitrex and Ergotomine do not mix (not that I haven't done both a few times). They both effect the blood pressure and can cause some serious problems.
A lot of people take more than the recommended dosage of Imitrex (and anything else that will help). DHE-45 will sometimes break the cycle. It's better given IV, but does cause a caustic effect on the veins. I've gone in the hosp a few times for that and I've also had home nurses come out and put in a hep lock and then come by and give it to me. After it gets in your system, you can take it IM (shot form in the rear). The last round I took ended up being about 28 of them.
Cafagot supp. works better than anything I've found. The ergotomines might cause nausea, but Dramamine will help that or Phenergan.
None of the preventatives worked on me and I ended up having surgery (I was chronic), but that is really a drastic last step.
