Hi all,
I'm taking verapamil for 2 years now, 320 mg/d during remission and 480 mg/d since my cycle started end of january. I never
had any side effects up to now.
Last thursday and friday I had a light fever of 37.5C (99.5F) and my left foot started to hurt a little. On saturday a small hole
(edema ?) had opened on the ankle. When I woke up this morning my left leg, from the knee downwards, was swollen up at
least half an inch in all directions. I went to my GP and he was very worried that the blood circulation might be blocked
somehow (I have a blocked artery for 40 year in my right leg and fight against edemas for 10 years now, a $15000 bypass
didn't help much). The doc sent my to the surgical emergency in the hospital right away. There, three doctors, ascending in
hierarchy, decided that since they could palpitate the pulse in my foot there was no real danger for my leg and recommended a
compression stocking.
Has anybody had similar experience with verapamil ? Although the leaflet mentions such complications, it would be strange
that they kick in only after 2 years.
Could it be that the expansion of vessels shifted from the head to the leg, indicating a near end of the CH cycle or a worsening
of it? (though I didn't notice any change in CH activity over the last few days.)
Any input would be welcomed.
Thanks and pain free nights and days for all!
