You guys have a good time this weekend and don't worry about your mom. Your dad is there with her and she's gonna be fine. She DOES need her space. Sometimes just letting her be alone is the best thing you can do for her.
Seeing the helplessness in loved ones eyes just makes us feel bad (especially from a mom's standpoint). We know we hurt and there's nothing we can do about it and we know there's nothing you can do either. When mine first started, my mom was still alive and she would come over and try to help me. I wish I had her back now, but at the time it aggravated the devil out of me for her to touch me. It was so hard watching her suffer along with me.
Check in, but leave her space to suffer alone when she's really bad. It's just something that we need.
