Ok, we want to have a convention. Where do we start?
1. Where are we going to hold it? Chicago is central. It's easy to get there by air. We'll need a large meeting room and that should be easy to find in Chicago. There's a lot of see and do if spouses come with us.(For those who still have spouses.)
2. Cost? Yes we need to keep our costs down to a minimum. But to have what we need is going to cost. We might find a Holiday Inn with a meeting room on the outskirts of town that could hold us all.
3. Since this will be a first. We'll need a spokesman to help organize it.
4. We'll need to get info on where and how much, then figure out when. Usually hotels will give you a list of 3 or 4 dates to choose from. Guess we could do it by vote on this board.
5. Then we'll need to get a count of all who can attend. Someone will have to be responsible for taking applications and letting the hotel know the count.
6. It is a great idea and I think some of the drug companies would help us out a little. (They probably won't foot the whole bill - wishful thinking).
7. Then we'll all have to see if we can get there.
Another suggestion is Las Vegas. There are always cheap fares that include hotel going out there. Then we'd just have to set up a meeting room and that might not be as expensive. At least we'd all have something to do when we're up at night. The IRS always has a "large turnout" when they hold meetings out there.
Since so many of us want to do this, why don't we get serious and start planning.
