I am (I think) a few months away from my next cycle. However, someone who hadn't seen me in awhile commented that the right side of my face looked swollen. So I checked it out and yes it looks fuller than the left side. Now, the headaches only hit on the right side. Anyone else ever noticed this characteristic.
Also, I was intrigued by the voo doo doll analogy. I myself have for years sort of done the reverse thinking while in the middle of an attack and somehow (before I found oxygen) this got me through some awful ones: I envision the daggar or whatever on it's way out inch by inch moving away from the center of the pain. I can watch the clock and tell myself how much longer the pain will be there and begin to tell when it is subsiding. Maybe then I feel in control of the process or something but when I tell myself the dagger is out, I can go back to sleep! (even if for only an hour) But last year the oxygen changed things for me - i used this technique but it was crunched into about 10-15 minutes instead of and hour or two.
