And it will be 24-48 hours before you really see an effect. Prednisone is (in theory) a preventive med, not an abortive. I take prednisone when in cycle and have for 8 years now. It does interrupt the cycle for me, but, alas, you can't stay on it for an extended period of time, because it's a steroid. I hope it gives you some relief until you see the neurologist.
