I'm finding this interesting now. Especially in finding that central apnea is believed to originate in the same general structures that Goadsby's studies show CH originates from.
Sleep is divided into 4 stages with REM being the least deep of the sleeping state. This is when the tahalamus acts up and dreams occur, CH hits and central apnea kicks in.
My hat's off to Lee. Any guy who can get 33 arousals in one hour is a far better man than I (couldn't resist that joke any longer).
