My grandmother is currently in a physic ward after a two week dose of 100mg and then a slow tapering. She is extremely manic and dilutional. She has no history of phycosis. She went on a major spending spree several times ($30,000 worth). The hardest part of all of this is we were never informed of this type of side affects. She is now on Depacote (a nice word for lithium) and we do not know when or if she will return back to her normal self. I urge anyone who is using this medication in a low or high dose for long or short term, to really investigate it carefully. This has been a tragic blow to our family.
