Hi,
I had my surgery in 1986. I had had CH for 17 years chronic. Never had more than a 3 or 4 day break.
Yes, I am numb on my right side. straight down the center of my nose. And yes there are a few minor problems..I had to learn to put makeup on. It is amazing, even tho we look in the mirror while apply eye make up, how much we are actually doing by feel. So, I don't consider thatt a big issue. Had to learn how to control food by eating mostly on my left side (i am very right handed) But after a few days, you will have the skills down pat.
Do i still have CH? The answer is yes and no. I have symptonslike the drooping eye. I get a "sensation" of a headache. About a month after my surgery, I woke up one morning sore from the waist up. You know the kind of sore you get when you have had a bad CH night? My neurologist told me that he was not surprised. That they always new that my whole vascular system was going into spasms at times. So right or wrong, we refer to that as a CH with no pain. Instead of the intense excrusiating pain, I now get a sensation around my eye and in my cheeck. These are the areas that hurt the most, this sensation is more like a pulling sensation and does not last long.
2 yrs after my surgery, I had a round of CH, not to the screeming level, but strong enough to wake me up. My dr said that the pain went deeper than they thought. And they only lasted for 2 weeks. Then 3 yrs later, I had a round of CH and was given Imatrex. After the 3rd shot, they went away. (i can live with that) about 2 yrs later had a round, used imatrex and again after the 3rd shot went away. That was 3 or 4 years ago and I have not had another round of them. I pray that I do not.
