Thank you so much for your informative post, Doctor. I'm sure we will all benefit from your suggestions and your candida theory is very interesting. Obviously diet has a lot to do with controlling candida as well and this means extracting and eliminating sugar completely so the candida has nothing to feed on. Further, foods with yeast or molds are big contributors to candida but I'm sure you've found that in your research.
Without being too forward, and I hope I speak for our fellow sufferers, I would like to make a suggestion to you. As a doctor you may be in a better position that us, as patients (or in my case, the wife of a sufferer), to communicate your findings to the traditional medical community. I have seen many posts here from sufferers who have become totally frustrated with the medical doctors who have tried to treat them for migraines and sinus infections or simply throwing horrendous meds their way, regardless of the side effects. We are finding it very difficult to:
a) find a doctor who BELIEVES in clusters as an affliction all on its own;
b) find a doctor who will prescribe appropriate treatments that have been proven to provide relief (for example: oxygen); and
c) be able to get in to see a doctor who qualifies for either of the above. My husband is on a waiting list for "The Headache Clinic" at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Canada. This waiting list is ONE YEAR. His neurologist appointment is going to be a much shorter wait: only 5 months!
Doctor, as a sufferer, you can understand that some of these patients cannot survive this long without some help. There is a reason that these headaches have sometimes been referred to as "Suicide Headaches".
I apologize for venting like this but I thought you may be able to shed some light for us in this area.
Best wishes to you and yours and here's hoping painfree days are ahead for you.
