I may be wrong here, but I believe that 'cold sores' and 'fever blisters' (two names for the same thing) are actually one of the herpes simplex viri. Before anyone goes ballistic, it isn't the same as the STD herpes. One is simplex I and the other simplex II, but I can't recall which is which.
Nancy's point is nonetheless correct...these viri hang around forever. There is presently no way to 'cure' them, just treatments (sound familiar???).
BTW, Nancy...I get fever blisters 1 - 2/year. No correlation to my cluster cycles, though that doesn't (in and of itself) rule out a connection.
