Dear Steve,
My husband has had CH for 20 years and tried every medication available. They work for a while and then he seems to become immune to them. He has exactly the same thing in that he feels it in his neck first. There is a trigger spot in his back on the left side (his CH is on the left of his head all the time) it is right next to the spine about the middle of the shoulder blade area, right in that dent. If I touch that spot he says it feels like a direct connection to the back of his eye. He too cannot lay in certain possitions and has tried a variety of pillows. He has also tried massage therapy and chiropractors. They too worked for a while. The massage thereapy was the best but far too expensive for us. So I learned to do it myself. Granted I am not nearly as good as a professional but I am getting a lot of practice sadly! :( You can try, if you have someone to help you, to feel up and down around your back and shoulder area's as well as your butt cheeks, yup he has one there too,..if you can get someone to massage that area gently at the first sign of the CH it can sometimes keep it at bay. The other option if your alone and have found a trigger spot is to apply ice alternating every few minutes with a hot compress on that trigger spot. This too can sometimes stop them dead in thier tracks. Hope this helps, your the first I have read about that has the same neck thing as Greg.
Best of luck Steve and I hope you have a better time of it soon, know we are all sending you our prayers and thoughts cause we really do KNOW what your going through!
Nique
