Bob,
I realize that *most* SCUBA is just filtered compressed air. However, many dive shops also have advanced air mixtures, mostly to increase the nitrogen level, if I remember correctly.

What my interest in SCUBA really revolved around was (1) the equipment (regulators, tanks, masks, etc.) and (2) the potential supply of pure oxygen which many dive shops have the potential of producing.

I realize that pure oxygen at depth is lethal and dive shops should/would never supply it for that purpose. I was more interested in what *might* be produced from readily accessable SCUBA gear.

Of particular interest is the fact that I am beginning to seriously consider taking a month and sailing to Central America, where I know the medical community is challenged, but where local dive operators may have the ability to provide oxygen refills to SCUBA-based equipment.
