Well, today marks the completion of week #2. Patty took 50mg once a day for the first week, then 50mg twice a day the 2nd week. Tomorrow it goes to 50/100, then week 4 is 100/100.

The first 11 days saw nothing. She even got worse, and we were scared it was because of the Topamax, but we wouldn't give up. On the 12th day, she went 11 1/2 hours without a CH. We were cautiously optimistic, afraid to get excited, we are tired of disappointment, so we waited. After the 11 1/2 hours, she went just 4 1/2 before her next pain shot. We looked kind of down, but after that one, she went 12.25 hours! Since then, she has gone a minimum of 9 hours, and max of about 12. We are still too scared to get overly optimistic, but we are hoping that it will continue to phase itself out. We have noticed also that right before the time increased between them, there were some changes in the pain pattern. It was really weird. The pain kind of danced around, shooting from one place to another, then wham, it would spike for just a minute, then dance again. Really weird. Maybe it's just something from all the other drugs they have her on. We look forward to getting off all the others, and will be starting that process as soon as she goes 24 hours pain free.

I'll keep you all posted. I hope everyone tries this drug. It seems to be the fresh, new hope.
