headaches for about 35 years. I get them for 1
month every 2 years.
I can only tell you what I would do in your
husband's situation. Definitely he was wise to
stop the Imitrex. Also, I would NOT take the
Verapamil after the episode is over. We tend to
develop a tolerance for many medications--then
they stop being effective when we need them. I
always stop my prophylatic medication when my
episode is over. In my case, I take Prednisone.
Even with stopping it after each episode, I've
noticed over the years that it has lost some of
its effectiveness.
