I suppose I'd better introduce myself. I'm the "ex" referred to in the original post.
DJ, thank you for sending me the address to read this post. It brought tears to my eyes again. I wouldn't wish either position - sufferer or supporter - on anyone. It is extremely painful for all involved. Through your clusters I learned to support without having to fix it. This is something women usually ask of men, "Don't try and fix it, just be there." You have had the opportunity to be on both sides and I think it is wonderful you have been able to learn, and better yourself from this. You are to be commended. You never once wanted anyone to feel sorry for you, just to understand. Though we've had our differences and in the end it didn't work out for us, but you know I do understand and if you need a ride 3am you can still give me a call.
I wish all of the sufferers and supporters the best of luck with this horrible condition. I hope everyone can someday understand what it is to be on the other side and learn a little something from it. My appologies if anyone feels I have overstepped reasonable boundaries.
Thank you all for giving DJ and each other encouragement to keep going. I know it isn't always easy.
Sincerely,
Kelly
