I keep my tank beside my easy chair and when I'm not taking it, I smoke.
O2 will NOT explode, but if the nossel is open it could burn. (And it burns HOT). I've never seen this as a reason NOT to have O2 in the house. In fact I keep several tanks just in case I run out.
Tell the doc, you're a grown up and will be responsible enough NOT to smoke while on O2. DUHHH.
