what i must to do in cycle?
May 13th, 2015 at 7:32am

hello
i for a year ago i have a last cycle and i took that following drugs
60mg Prednisolone (solupred)
Verapamil 240mg SR
valproic acid and Sodium Valproate 500mg X 2 per day (depakine chrono 500 mg)
Anti-Inflammatory

after 1 week it decrease the number of attacks per day

and during attack i take O2 + Zomig tablet 2.5mg + Migranil (Phenobarbitone and Meprobamate)

but in this year i took the same , but the number of attacks increased!!
i donot know what i must to do.
also when i use the O2 and the pain gone,it will not completely pain free, i still have a small pain beside my eye..

i read some papers and documents but most of them is too hard English to understood:(

i go to 3 doctors and they said that this pain is CH. Sad

i have some questions:
1-what i must do in the cycle to decrease the time of it?to be ended faster?
2-during cycle , to decrease the pain or number of attack:
2-a-i must eat food to increase blood pressure or to decrease blood pressure?
2-b-i must stay in open area to get fresh air or in close area?
2-c-i must be warmed or stay in Air condition?
3-what about using tablets and mobile during cycle?
4-is my drugs is good choose or can add anther items?

thank you

Not really able to answer all your ???????????? as we are
all different, but with the slight pain after an attack these
are known as shadows, and an over the counter pain
killer normally gets rid of it. As for controlling the beast,
ask your doctor to increase the Verapamil dosage too 360mg daily, Also ask for some Imigran auto injectors,
these will abort an attack in 5mins.

Cheers Hoppy.

Do not take Prednisolone for more than about two weeks at a time. It will cause issues with your joints. It must only be used for a short time.

Have you seen a headache specialist to confirm that you have CH?

i feel this pain 1st time in 2001 during sleep in my eye and i go to ophthalmologist and give me druge which work for about 4 year and then stoppend and he aid to me tha all think good and ask me to goto Nose doctor, i goto it and make CT and MRi and give me drugs also works for about 3 years and after that he also ask me to goto Neurologist,

last 4 years i went to 4 doctors, 3 of them confirm that i have a CH,every year a goto one and he give me a drugs work some time and then stopped.Sad
Like Zomig :2 years ago 2.5mg work, but not upto 5mg not working, and doctor told me for only 5mg.

O2 it the last one can work but i t work for me for painfree for about half hour and then the pain came again.i use o2 with high flow and non reb. mask and use it for 15 min.

but i think that there is are something can increase and decrease shadows like:

to decrease :
1-stay in open area.
2-EAT LOT OF FOOOD.
3-put ice on eye.
4-wash your body(inc. head) with COLD water

to increase:
1-stay in closed area.
2-use Cell phone and tablets.

but some times all these notes not working  Sad((

With the doctors you've seen with 3 diagnosing CH, it seems that you do have CH.

It shouldn't matter if you are in an open or closed area. This should not trigger CH.

Similarly using a cell phone or tablet should not trigger CH.

Quite a few people have said that getting hungry can trigger a CH, so eat normally with food throughout the day. But no need to eat lots of food.

Cold and hot can both help people, often with a hot or cold shower or similar, to kill a CH that has started.

Do read up about using vitamin D3, it can help a lot.

The most important action you can take now is to find a doctor who has knowledge and skill in treating Cluster headache. In the U.S. locating a skilled doctor is one of our difficult  action.

Since I don't know how your medical system works in your country that may be your first problem. Two sources for you, may be, talking to the social work or social service office at a large hospoital. Or talk to your public health group. Ask for help in locating a HEADACHE SPECIALIST, or a doctor who know has experience with headache problems.

Even in the U.S., finding a good doctor who has knowledge and skill treating Cluster headache is difficult.

But without a skilled doctor who has treated Cluster, it will be hard to find good care. The fact that you have seen 4 doctors and have not found relief says that you have not found a skilled doctor.
===============
The medicines you have used are not the most effective or in the best doses for Cluster. But for you change them is not be best way to get relief. You need a good doctor who you will work with for many months to find the right combination of medicienes and doses.
===========
To answer your quesstions:
1 and 2: The question of medicines and dose cannot be settled until you find a good doctor.
2,a. Food is not an important problem. We can discuss this question after you find a doctor.
2,b and c. High temperature will start an attack for some people, but not for everyone. All you can do is see if an attack starts when you are feeling hot. For some people, exercise will cause an attack.
3 & 4. At the bottom of this page is an attachemnt. Click on it and print the file which will appear. At this tme, you will not be able to understand much of it. Give a copy to any doctor you see and save a copy for yourself. It will give the doctor some good information.
==========
Also print the next section and give to  any doctor you see. (It comes from a major medical journal.) I don't know whether this medication is available for you. If it is, it's usually less expensive than many of the other drugs e and it works quickly. (It has been my personal favorite for several years.)

Headache 2001 Sep;41(8):813-6

Olanzapine as an Abortive Agent for Cluster Headache.

Rozen TD.
Department of Neurology, Jefferson Headache Center/Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate olanzapine as a cluster headache abortive agent in an open-label trial. BACKGROUND: Cluster headache is the most painful headache syndrome known. There are very few recognized abortive therapies for cluster headache and fewer for patients who have contraindications to vasoconstrictive drugs. METHODS: Olanzapine was given as an abortive agent to five patients with cluster headache in an open-label trial. THE INITIAL OLANZAPINE DOSE WAS 5 MG, AND THE DOSE WAS INCREASED TO 10 MG IF THERE WAS NO PAIN RELIEF. THE DOSAGE WAS DECREASED TO 2.5 MG IF THE 5-MG DOSE WAS EFFECTIVE BUT CAUSED ADVERSE EFFECTS. To be included in the study, each patient had to treat at least two attacks with either an effective dose or the highest tolerated dose. RESULTS: Five patients completed the investigation (four men, one woman; four with chronic cluster, one with episodic cluster). Olanzapine reduced cluster pain by at least 80% in four of five patients, and TWO PATIENTS BECAME HEADACHE-FREE AFTER TAKING THE DRUG. Olanzapine typically alleviated pain within 20 minutes after oral dosing and treatment response was consistent across multiple treated attacks. The only adverse event was sleepiness. CONCLUSIONS: Olanzapine appears to be a good abortive agent for cluster headache. IT ALLEVIATES PAIN QUICKLY AND HAS A CONSISTENT RESPONSE ACROSS MULTIPLE TREATED ATTACKS. IT APPEARS TO WORK IN BOTH EPISODIC AND CHRONIC CLUSTER HEADACHE.
