D3 Success
Sep 29th, 2013 at 11:31am

Greetings all-
After being on the D3 regimen since 9/22 my son messaged me yesterday saying the beast had fled.  No more knife in the eye.
His cycle is usually 8 weeks and this one lasted only 4.  More specifically they left after 7 days after starting D3.

God Bless You Batch!
Andy

That's great news. Tell him to get the blood test done so he knows when he's up to the right level, and stay on the D3 for life. I know I'm going to.

Hey Andy,

Thanks for the wonderful feedback... This wouldn't have happened without you...

Maz is spot on bout getting tested for 25(OH)D and staying on this regimen for life...  As good as it is... this regimen is not a cure...

Take care and thanks again for the update.

One of the biggest keys to the success of the regimen in my opinion is to monitor your D3 level following Batches recommendations.
It is difficult to find an exact dose to stay at a steady D3 level so you may end up backing off at times if your level climbs above the recommended high end level of 110 ng/ml.
Getting your 25 ohd tests monthly at first for a few months to get into the proper range and figure your dose as close as possible is a good idea then once you have your dose figured out to remain as steady as possible without dropping out of the pain free zone, getting the 25 ohd test every few months is cool. I have had to back off a few times to stay in the recommended range. A couple of times I dropped below the lower end of 60 ng/ml and got hammered almost immediately so Batch is very accurate on that lower end  60 ng/ml figure for the pain free zone. If you find yourself having to back off to bring your level back down into the proper range be sure to schedule another test to see where your level ends up.
This is just how it has worked out for me and I have been basically CH free for a year now on the regimen. I may have been a bit overkill at times on the 25 ohd tests but I have remained safe and in good control of my D3 level.
Batch... If this info can be corrected or added to please feel free, I just wanted to share my experience and how I have kept within your recommended range of 60 to 110 ng/ml...Johnny...Smiley

Andy,

Thank you for advocating for your son - our supporters are what keep us going - however I would encourage you to get your son on this board and actively engaged in his treatment.  He needs to take control of this, as its his body and his pain.  Also many of us find support and hope on this board, and I think your son would benefit from that as well.

CH is a disease that can make you feel all alone, and even when you have a great supporter and family, still no one will understand what he goes through as much as we will.  Not saying you don't care or love your son, you just can't understand the pain until you have experienced it for yourself.

Wishing your son PF days and nights.

Hey Rob,

Welcome to CH.com...  You've come to the right place.  The first thing to do if you want to start anti-inflammatory regimen with 10,000 IU/day vitamin D3 and the vitamin D3 cofactors is see your primary care physician for the lab test for 25(OH)D and vitamin B12.

The normal reference range for the 25(OH)D lab test is 30 to 100 ng/mL... Make sure you get the actual serum concentration as most physicians will tell you 31 ng/mL is normal...  It isn't...  As CH'ers we need to have an optimum 25(OH)D serum concentration of 70 to 80 ng/mL.

The anti-inflammatory regimen has been proving to be effective for better than 80% of the CH'ers, episodic and chronic, who start this regimen.

The latest list of supplements in this regimen are shown in the following table:

I buy the following supplements by brand at Costco as they contain nearly all the required supplements at the right doses shown in the table above.  You can also find similar brands of these supplements at Walmart, supermarkets, the Vitamin Shoppe and over the Internet

The vitamin B 50 is not shown.  This is the latest addition to this regimen suggested by Dr. Stasha Gominak, MD.  She's a neurologist in Texas who treats patients with sleep, neurological pain and headaches with a similar regimen except she includeds three months treatment with vitamin B 50.

You can find more about the anti-inflammatory regimen at the following link:  Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

Take care and please keep us posted.

Hi Batch, i hope you are well.
I am wondering if you could post a link to the vitamin B50 you use please, or name the brand, where you get it etc...
The only one i can get on iherb is this one:

Hey Thierry,

The Thompson, B50 Complex should work just fine.

This is the latest addition to the anti-inflammatory regimen suggested by Dr. Stasha Gominak, a neurologist in Tyler, TX.  She has over six years prescribing a regimen very similar to the anti-inflammatory regimen with even better results.

The only real difference between the two regimens is the three month course of vitamin B 50.  She added it when she found most of her patients also had a vitamin B deficiency along with the vitamin D3 deficiency...

I'm hopeful this latest addition will improve efficacy for the 20% who haven't responded to the anti-inflammatory regimen as well as the CH'ers who are still not completely pain free of their CH.

Take care and please keep us posted.

V/R, Batch

Hi Batch, thanks for your reply.
Up to a month ago I had been taking this B + C complex

Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

I stopped taking it when I ran out and was not in need to place an order at iherb. I've now ordered some more, I hadn't realised that the B complex in it is actually the same as the Thompson. I had been taking this for quite a while before we learit that it is a useful part of the regimen.

Also I learned from a post by Chuffy on the "123 days pain free thread" that the Kirkland Mature Multi we can buy on Amazon UK does not have the same composition as the one you get in the U.S so I'm still taking all the components of the regimen seperately. I've now got myself the Life Extension Super K so I'm taking one of these a day as well.

Hey Thierry,

Thanks for the update.  There are obviously a number of supplement formulations in the market place that will work just fine.  I look for preparations like the Kirkland brand Adult 50+ Mature Multi that have most of the essential anti-inflammatory supplements at adequate doses.

If the amounts listed in the supplement facts label are low as with vitamin K2 and magnesium, I add more.

Take care and please keep us posted.
