Ice

Hi, this is my first time on the board.  But I just wanted to alert everyone to a treatment I started over the past week that has been working. ICE! As a CH sufferer for 30 years, I was relieved to find out from a neurologist about the Oxygen treatment.  I have been using it for 9 years and it has worked 80-90% of the time.  However, if I didn't get relief in the first 20 minutes, I would suffer for the rest of the day.  And this usually occurred on the 3rd or 4th attack of any day, especially if it was after an attack which woke me up in the night.  But recently, my wife applied ice to the area of pain concentration (usually over my left eyebrow) while simultaneously inhaling oxygen, and the pain stopped after about 10-15 minutes.  This was significant for me because it has worked every time so far.  In the past, if the pain had not stopped in withing 20 minutes of inhaling oxygen, I suffered brutal pain for at least 2-3 hours, and an additional 8-12 hours of moderate to severe pain.  Now, if the pain does not stop in 20 minutes of oxygen, I continue with the oxygen while applying ice on my forehead, and the pain goes away within 15 minutes, and it has worked every single time.  Just thought it may help someone else.  Smiley

Welcome to the board! I'm with Brian, always kept a bag of frozen peas in the freezer to lay at the base of my neck or accross the forehead and eye of the affected side.

HOWEVER!!

The link that Brew referred you to... After 35 years of episodic suffering, the "Batch Regimen", aka the D-3 regimen has had me pain free for over 3 years. Plrease give it a try, it's helping over 80% of those who try it, it's silly to not at least give it a shot.
