At war with the beast!

Hello all,
First post, but I have lurked for a couple of years now.  A little about me:

- 32 yrs of age
- Episodic
- Cycles used to be every 24 months from oct - dec but recently changed (I believe) to every 12 months Jan as of last year.
- Have been suffering from clusters for roughly 10 years, but didn't know I had clusters until around 4 years ago.
- I normally get CH every other night when I hit REM sleep and shadow the day following CH.
- Triggers I know affect me - Alcohol, 5-HTP, Opiates (lortab), MSG
- Current abortives - red bull, coffee, oxygen (had to get welding tank as my neuro wouldn't prescribe O2).  This is my first time using O2 and it has worked wonders!
- No other meds taken, just doing the D3 regimen and some busting with seeds.

I am on week 6 of my current cycle and I believe it is dying down.  I got hit with one of the worst attacks in my 10 years on Jan. 28 (Kip 10).  At this time I did not have O2 and suffered for a good 3 hours.  I was able to get O2 this week and although I seem to be on my way to beating the beast, I had a couple of small hits where the O2 aborted in 5 minutes or less.  Thank you to all on this site who have given us knowledge and information on the powers of O2. I will now have it in my arsenal going forward.  The D3 regimen seems  to be working well and honestly, I haven't felt this good in a long time.  Not sure what my thoughts are on the busting at this time.

Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and thank all of you who have put this site together and contributed to make it what it is.  I went a long 6 years before self diagnosing myself after many doctors and medications failed.

See you around!

Jonathan

Welcome to the board jonathan.
You say you are self-diagnosed and, to me, your description sounds like clusters. It might be a good idea to find a doctor who agrees and get it in writing and in your medical records "just because" for any future need such as insurance or getting fired from a job.

Glad you stuck your head in. Bob's right, a solid diagnosis is a good thing to have in the bank down the road. Check out this link:

Follow this link  to the medications section of this board and read the post  Multimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or Register

It’s a vitamin/mineral/fish oil supplement, all over the counter stuff, that’s providing a lot of relief for people who have tried it, it’s healthy for you even without CH. Kept me off cycle going on 3 years.

Welcome, Sorry that you have to go through these but at least now you have a place for support and to receive the latest information to help get you through the cycle.  I have had them for over 30 yrs from the age of 17 on.  You will learn that your cycles can change at any time without notice.  I also like you learned that anything that messes with Serotonin will trigger me.  5http is just one of them.
