Welcome to Clusterville Paul,

Too bad you are afflicted by this nightmare disease we share, but you are not alone.

Many here have reported running helps them, others no relief.  I think the co2 buildup (exhaling) and increase of o2 (inhaling) is the primary reason why running may help, as this is the concept behind o2 therapy which you really should get an o2 script for your aborts or get welders o2 and try it.  o2 therapy is the most effective and least costly and safest abort treatment for CH's.

You expressed concern of limited use of Imitrex, I suggest you click on the yellow tab, left side of your screen, titled "Imitrex tip" to learn how to extend one injection into three injections.

Energy drinks, the Vitamin D regimen and melatonin are also helpful treatments to many CH'ers.

Stick around and do some reading to better yourself.

Where do you reside?
Are you on any preventative meds?
Are you under the care of a neuro/headache specialist that you feel pleased with their knowledge of CH's?

Hang tough and welcome aboard Wink

Calm down, noob. Some of us try to look out for stuff that can lead others astray. One of my special purposes in life is to force people to differentiate between "this works for everyone" and "this worked for me."

Put yourself in the shoes of others. Would you want bad advice when you first came here in desperation?

Words mean things. Take the correction, learn from it, and move on. I'm sorry you're not firing on all cylinders, but I hardly think you'd want to be responsible for giving out imprecise information to somebody who's in the same boat as you are right now.

I went for a run, about three miles. When I finished I suddenly realised that my migraine had gone

sometimes, those of us who have been here a while and have heard everything as well as tried everything available out there, have a hard time with folks who swear by things like banana peels, tin foil hats, capsacian up the nose...etc. etc. etc.   From what we know about Migraines..(we have cluster headaches here, not migraines)  Running, moving, bright lights, etc, are NOT, NOT, NOT something a Migrainer would do.  They need total quiet, dark room, cold packs, no movement.

That said,  we who suffer from CH know that expercise will help CH to some degree.  I've been known to run around the block in 10 degree weather.

I assure you, Brew meant no sarcasm.  He is simply pointing out to you what we would all say to you. what works for me may not work for you and visa versa.

Welcome here.  Take time to click oon different links and read our stories.  This site has been a long time in the making (14 going on 15 yrs.)  and the information contained in this site has been invaluable to so many.  It contains the most up to date info on CH.

Again...we welcome you.  You are home now.  You're in a place where no one will tell you to lay down, take a aspirin and get over yourself.  We all undestand your pain.

Linda
