I'm Baaaacccccckkkkk......:(
Oct 3rd, 2012 at 3:01pm

Well, I had to create a new account because my hubby had been cluster free for 2 years and I have since changed my email, and forgot my log in info.
I'm Sandy Coleman, 37 year old married for 17 years (To my awesome hubby). We have 2 teenage sons (one got his license yesterday...yay for him, Boooo for my insurance premiums...lol)  I am a firefighter/paramedic and I love what I do. My hubby is a warehouse manager so he's the one that actually brings home the bacon.

Hubby went to the Dr on Friday and was told that he had to stop drinking or he was going to die.  (Big wake up call)  So guess who started rearing his ugly face again on Monday?  You got it! The right sided cluster demon.  Fortunately, I have the oxygen ready for tonight, but it's a small tank and won't last very long.  I have found that RockStar energy drink has more Taurine in it than Redbull, so I thought I'd pass that along to you guys. (1000mg)

I still argue with the Dr about what kind of headaches these are, but I KNOW I am right.  I'd bet my life on it. So I will take care of him the best way I can while we are getting the other medical issues taken care of and then I will INSIST that he be recommended to a headache specialist.

So, Hi Everyone.  Looks like I'm gonna be here a while, so I'm gonna get settled in.  Thank the Lord for this sight and all the info.  I was so glad to find you a few years back. I found out that we arn't alone, and that's a great feeling.

Take Care,
Sandy Coleman

Welcome back Sandy, always nice to see a supporter here.
Don't know what's new since you were last here... probably the vitamin D3 regimen. Good that you got the O2, also 9-12mg melatonin might help at night if he gets night hits. Also clusterbusters.com if you haven't checked that out yet.

Welcome back Sandy, as Nolan mentioned we do have a soft spot in out heart for supporters. DO look into the vitamin D-3regimen....go to the medications section, read the post "123 pain free days and i think I know why" It's a simple daily vitamin supplement, costs pennies a day, is good for you if you DON'T have CH, and is providing a lot of relief to sufferers.

An important point about CH is for most sufferers, it is a life long problem. It goes away for very few. Once a sufferer and there supporter realize this and learn more than a few things about CH, the battle will become much easier.

Learning what the best treatments are is what you will find on CH.com. Finding a good Doctor or better yet Neurologist or best of all a Headache Specialist can be difficlult. CH is rare and most Doctors and Neurologists know little about it and treatments.

The horrible pain of CH can overwhelm even the strongest, that's when our supporters shine. For me, the battle is mine, my wife steps in whenever I need help.

I'm sure you have already, but get on the Oxygen supply like yesterday. And never forget that because CH is so rare most Dr's know little. What you find on CH.com is not bull, it comes from real sufferers and supporters. Use that info.

Thanks so much you all!  Writing all this stuff down.  Tried to get him to do some "Clusterbuster's" before and he refuses.  I feel your pain guys and it really sucks.  Hubby is lucky his wife is a paramedic...lol.  I will try the things you guys have suggested. Also discovered that Monster Extra Strength has 2000mg of Taurine.  He gets night hits alot. To the point that he is scared to go to sleep.  Seriously thinking about slipping him a 10mg valium so he will sleep.  Will try anything at this point.  I feel so helpless.  Thank you all for being here. This sight is awesome!!!
Thank you so much!

Have you guys tried melatonin yet for the night hits? Start with 9 mg about 30 minutes before bedtime. Some go as high as 18 mg, some combine extended release with standard release to get them thru the night. Helps avoid the night time hits for many.

Careful using sedatives for sleep... they don't treat the CH and you run the risk of developing a real headbanger before it can wake you up.
