Wouldn't know from personal experience, Johnny, but some people get a little disoriented and forgetful from just Topomax.   You're adding 1500mg of Depakote and as noted elsewhere:

Quote:
Checking it [Depakote] out though in material written by Drs. Alan Rapoport and Fred Sheftell, they give it a mention, but working it up to 750mg, saying it could be helpful for a few.  You will be using twice that.

There are some usual first effects when starting a new drug, but I wouldn't know where this is going to take you.  I chimed in on your Depakote thread because I had a feeling the combination in those doses was a bit inordinate.

From the drug interaction checker at Drugs.com:

MONITOR: Coadministration of topiramate with valproic acid has been reported to decrease mean area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) of valproic acid by 11% and that of topiramate by 14%. The mechanism of interaction may involve increased metabolism of both drugs.

MANAGEMENT: Pharmacologic response to the drugs should be monitored more closely following addition or withdrawal of one or the other drug. Dose adjustments may be required if an interaction is suspected. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience loss of seizure control.

It's a moderate interaction, so not necessarily a no-no, but something to bring up with your doctor if you're having unacceptable side effects.
